Holy Cross Volleyball Drops 3-1 Decision At Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Holy Cross volleyball team won the first set of the evening, 25-21, but dropped three straight (24-26, 20-25, 18-25), falling to Providence 3-1 Wednesday in Providence, R.I. With the loss, Holy Cross falls to 2-3 overall, while the Friars pick up their first win of the year and improve to 1-4.

Sophomore Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders with 20 digs and15 kills, recording her third double-double of the season. Senior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded 30 assists and senior libero Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) had 19 digs. Sophomore Elizabeth Watters (San Francisco, Calif.) had 11 digs.

Providence was led by Lauren Fletcher with 22 kills and Carly Morrison with 38 assists and 14 digs. Shelagh Dolan recorded 11 kills, Emily Morris made 10 digs and Cassie Muzzonigro had 17.

Holy Cross continues action on the road on Sept. 4, traveling to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to play NJIT at 3:00 p.m. and Marist at 7:00 p.m.
