WASHINGTON, D.C. - American's Angelina Waterman recorded 13 digs and 16 kills to lead the American volleyball team past Holy Cross, 3-1, on Friday night at Bender Arena by scores of 25-14, 19-25, 25-14 and 25-11. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 4-22 overall (2-9 Patriot League), while the Eagles improve to 14-11 (8-3 Patriot League).
Freshman Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) led the Crusaders with 15 kills while junior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded 30 assists. Senior Samantha Surface (Fresno, Calif.) posted 10 digs and junior Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) recorded 19. Sophomore Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) posted 10 kills.
The Eagles were led by Waterman, along with Cassandra Ricketts' 16 kills and Deborah Frantz's 20 digs. Krysta Cicala recorded 51 assists and 11 digs.
The Crusaders return to action when they travel to Annapolis, Md., to play Navy on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 2:00 p.m. Holy Cross defeated the Midshipmen earlier this season on Oct. 16 by a score of 3-0.
