FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Freshman Megan Lynch (Mendham, N.J.) tallied 12 kills, but UMKC had three players with double-digit kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Missouri-Kansas City, 3-0, to conclude play for both teams at the Sacred Heart Invitational on Saturday by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-17. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-4 overall and went 0-3 at the tournament, while UMKC improves to 4-4 overall. Lynch, who had 20 kills during the three matches, earned all-tournament accolades.
Junior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) just missed a double-double with 31 assists and nine digs, while sophomore Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) had the second most kills on the team with seven. O'Donnell now has 1,581 career assists moving her to fourth on the Holy Cross all-time assists list.
UMKC was led by Kelsey Knoche's 16 kills and 11 digs, while Christiana McQuin and Elizabeth Beck each had 10 kills.
The Crusaders return to action on Monday, Sept. 7, when they play at Hartford at 7:00 p.m.
