FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Pioneers had two players with double-digit kills as the Holy Cross volleyball team fell to Sacred Heart, 3-0, on the first day of competition at the Sacred Heart Invitational on Friday night by scores of 25-17, 25-6 and 25-17. With the loss, the Crusaders fall to 0-2 overall, while the Pioneers improve to 3-1 overall.
Sophomore Kathleen Colpoys (Scituate, Mass.) led the Crusaders with five kills, while junior setter Chelsey O'Donnell (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had 11 assists. Junior libero Angela Chisholm (Millis, Mass.) led the team with six digs.
The Pioneers were led by Ashlyn Trimble's 11 kills and six service aces, and Johanna Ovsenek's 10 kills. Courtney Kidd-Kadlubek had 37 assists, while Jessica Colberg had 10 digs.
The Crusaders continue play at the Sacred Heart Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5, when they play Iona at 12:00 p.m. and Missouri-Kansas City at 2:00 p.m.
