Track & Field Places 48 On All-Academic Team

Worcester, Mass. - The Holy Cross men's and women's track and field squads placed 48 student-athletes on the 2005 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by league officials today. On the women's side, the Crusaders posted a league-best 38 All-Academic selection, while the men's team had 10 student-athletes honored. Senior Colleen Lahar (Quincy, Mass.) was among 14 female track and field student-athletes to earn 4.0 grade point averages during the spring semester. A total of 159 student-athletes were named to this year's women's honor roll, while 118 were named to the men's academic honor roll.
In addition to Lahar, representing the Holy Cross women's team were seniors Lindsey Bomar (Bristol, Conn.), Kerry Brassil (Mount Vernon, N.Y.), Julie Brennan (Pembroke, Mass.), Michela Byrne (Portland, Ore.), Emily Capurso (Longmeadow, Mass.), Elizabeth Corridan (Holliston, Mass.), Brenna Flynn (Wenham, Mass.), Jaclyne Manzi (Plymouth, N.H.), Kaitlin Palmer (Hampton, N.H.), Sara Simeone (Nashua, N.H.), Laura Snebold (Winchester, Mass.) and Kathryn Thornton (Burbank, Calif.); juniors Christine Carroll (North Marrimack, N.Y.), Brittany Chapman, Haddonfield, N.J.), Jessica Fallon (Nashua, N.H.), Courtney Walls (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Emily Winacoo (Holden, Mass.); sophomores Kerilyn Anderson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Elizabeth Bloomer (Quincy, Mass.), Ashley Couch (Niskayuna, N.Y.), Sara Devitt (Malverne, N.Y.), Megan Driscoll (Melrose, Mass.), Kara Plunkett (Topsfield, Mass.) and Megan Williams (Westfield, Conn.); and freshmen Lynn Barowski (Marrimack, N.H.), Gillian Bearfield (Dedham, Mass.), Alexandra Booth (Short Hills, N.J.), Kristin Burke (Guilford, Conn.), Stephanie Cares (Northboro, Mass.), Christine Carifio (Haverhill, Mass.), Jamie Curley (Bolton, Mass.), Jillian Edmunds (Salem, N.H.), Christie Kapothanasis (Westbrook, Mass.), Christie LeTarte (Lunenburg, Mass.), Meghan Lytle (Lewiston, N.Y.), Christina Newell (Whippany, N.J.)and Katie Spinelli (Southington, Conn.).
Representing the men's team were seniors Sean Flood (Clive, La.), Brendan Kearney (Haddonfield, N.J.), James McKeon (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) and John Nieskens (Peterborough, N.H.); juniors Stephen Laney (Cohasset, Mass.), Timothy Murphy (Wayne, N.J.), Daniel Ryan (East Hempstead, N.H.) and Thomas Severo (Westford, Mass.); sophomore Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.); and freshman Kevin Dowd (Broad Brook, Conn.).
To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports.
