Women's Track Places 46 On Academic All-League Team

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's track and field squad has placed 46 student-athletes on the 2008 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by league officials. Leading the Crusaders were senior Caitlin Moore (Bedford, N.H.), junior Courtney Mazzio (West Chester, Pa.) and junior Kelly Shaw (South Windsor, Conn.), who were three of just 14 female track and field student-athletes to earn 4.00 grade point averages during the spring semester. In addition, seniors Lynn Barowski (Merrimack, N.H.), Christine Carifio (Harverhill, Mass.) and Jamie Curley (Bolton, Mass.) were all named to the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth consecutive year. Holy Cross' 46 total selections to the Academic Honor Roll were the second most in the conference.
In addition to Barowski, Carifio, Curley, Moore, Mazzio and Shaw, the Crusaders were represented by seniors Gillian Bearfield (Dedham, Mass.), Kristin Burke (Guilford, Conn.), Theresa D'Aquila (Trumbull, Conn.), Amanda Dupuis (East Sandwich, Mass.), Christie LeTarte (Lunenburg, Mass.), Meghan Lytle (Lewiston, N.Y.) and Katie Spinelli (Southington, Conn.); juniors Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.), Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland), Katie Clay (Beverly, Mass.), Katherine Clifford (Norwood, Mass.), Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.), Laura Flannery (Franklin, Mass.), Sophia Grammenos (Gardner, Mass.), Julianne Hug (Reno, Nev.), Cara Joyce (Cumberland, R.I.), Dannielle Meder (Chicopee, Mass.), Casey Monahan (Holyoke, Mass.), Caitlin Paluilis (Pittsfield, Mass.), Colleen Spilka (Hamden, Conn.) and Lauren Tallon (Lake Forest, Ill.); sophomores Chantal Couture (Taunton, Mass.), Sarah Croteau (Westminster, Mass.), Maggie Fox (Natick, Mass.), Nicole Lonczak (Melrose, N.Y.), Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.), Megan McCormick (Newburyport, Mass.), Caitlin Murphy (Hudson, Mass.), Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) and Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.); and freshmen Rose Calvo (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Allison Fimognari (Wilbraham, Mass.), Jacqueline Imse (Simsbury, Conn.), Kristen Kelleher (Holliston, Mass.), Sarah Mahowald (Sartell, Minn.), Margaret Molloy (West Hartford, Conn.), Emily Nassetta (New London, Conn.), Stephanie Stoneback (Voorhees, N.J.), Suzanne Wallace (Shoreham, N.Y.) and Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.).
A total of 178 student-athletes from women's track and field teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter.
