Holy Cross Ready To Race At New England Championship

Qualifying members of the Holy Cross men's track and field team will travel to Amherst, Mass. for the New England Championship in Amherst, Mass. on May 8-9. At the 2008 New England Outdoor Championship, Holy Cross finished fourth with 59 points. Junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.33 seconds and first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.26 seconds. Seniors Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.) and Lauren Tallon (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished fifth and sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.07 and 58.09 seconds respectively. Senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland) finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 3.50 meters.
At the 2009 New England Indoor Championship, Reid and Bautista battled for the Holy Cross school record in the 55 meter dash, with Reid posting the faster time of 7.38 seconds. Courtney finished third in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:16.07 and junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.) finished third in the one mile run with a time of 5:00.26.
At last weekend's Patriot League Outdoor Championship, Reid earned first team All-Patriot League honors for her first place finish in the 200 meter dash. Reid finished with an ECAC Championship qualifying time of 24.32 seconds and earns an automatic qualification for the NCAA Regional meet. Reid also received second team honors for her second place finish in the 100 meter dash and 4x100 meter relay. Reid set a new school record in the 100 with a time of 11.84 seconds and is the first student-athlete in the history of Holy Cross track and field to run the 100 meter dash under 12 seconds.
