Crusaders Set To Compete At Patriot League Championship

  • The Holy Cross women's track and field team will travel to West Point, N.Y. for the 2009 Patriot League Outdoor Championship on May 1-2.

  • Last year at the Championship, Holy Cross finished fourth. Senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland) finished third in the pole vault with a height of 3.5 meters, while junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) finished third in the 100 with a time of 12.32 seconds and second in the 200 with an ECAC qualifying time of 24.79 seconds. Senior Dannielle Meder (Chicopee, Mass.) finished second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.47 seconds and junior Olivia Prusko (Monroe, Conn.) finished first in the 400 hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:02.49. Senior Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.) finished third in the heptathlon.

  • Last week at the Penn Relays, Holy Cross broke two school records. In the sprint medley relay, the Crusaders broke a school record set in 1988. The new record of 4:06.66, set by sophomore Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.), Reid, senior Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.) and sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.), broke the school record by 26 seconds. In the 4x200 relay, ran by sophomore M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.), Reid, senior Lauren Tallon (Lake Forest, Ill.) and White, Holy Cross knocked five seconds off the old school record with a new record time of 1:42.82.
