Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross track and field athlete, freshman Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) was named Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday morning. Against Maine on Saturday, February 3, Pruszko won the 500m run, qualifying for the New England Championship in the event for the second time this season. Her time of 1:16.31 was her fastest time so far, narrowly missing qualifying for the ECAC Championship. In the 4x440-yard relay, Pruszko ran the fourth and final leg of the event in 58.32 seconds, helping the Crusaders to a win of the event.
In the high jump, Pruszko took second place with a jump of 1.60m. She also took second place in the 55-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.86 seconds.
Pruszko was named Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week on December 11, 2006 for winning the Rhode Island Pentathlon, the first Crusader to ever win the annual event. On January 13, Pruszko won the Yale Pentathlon, making her 2-2 in pentathlon events this season.
On Saturday, the Holy Cross women's track and field travels to Boston, Mass. to compete in the St. Valentine Invitational, being hosted by Boston University. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am.
