Women's Track & Field Takes Fifth At Patriot League Championship

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) took first in the 200 and set a new school record in the 100 to lead the Holy Cross women's track and field team to a fifth place finish at the Patriot League Championship in West Point, N.Y. on Saturday, May 2. Holy Cross finished fifth with 80 points, while Bucknell took first with 188.50. Navy, Colgate and Army finished second, third and fourth respectively.
Reid took first in the 200 with an ECAC Championship qualifying time of 24.32 seconds and second in the 100 with ECAC qualifying, career best and new school record time of 11.84 seconds. Reid's first place finish in the 200 earns her an automatic qualification to the NCAA Regional meet.
Senior Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.) finished fifth and narrowly missed the school record in the 3,000 steeple chase with a New England qualifying time of 11:28.04. Senior Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.) finished third in the 400 with a New England qualifying time of 57.92 seconds. Freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) crossed the line fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:12.78, narrowly missing the school record of 2:12.77. Hartnett's time qualifies her for the New England Championship. Junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.) finished fifth in the 1500 with a New England qualifying time of 4:42.92. Freshman Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) took fourth in the 5,000 with a New England qualifying time of 17:45.00.
The 4x100 relay, ran by senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland), sophomore Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.), sophomore M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.) and Reid finished second, narrowly missing the school record, with a time of 47.69. The time qualifies for the ECAC Championship. The 4x400 relay, ran by senior Lauren Tallon (Lake Forest, Ill.), Courtney, sophomore Cassandra Anderson (Saugus, Mass.) and junior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.), finished in third place with a time of 3:54.81.
Qualifying members of the women's track and field team will compete at the New England Championship on Friday-Saturday, May 8-9, in Amherst, Mass.
