Holy Cross Track & Field Competes At Patriot League Championship

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Brad Mish (Hadley, Mass.) finished second in the 10,000 run to lead the Holy Cross men's and women's track and field teams at the Patriot League Championship in West Point, N.Y. on Friday, May 1. Mish finished second in the 10,000 with an IC4A qualifying time of 30:43.61 as he was edged out at the line by Jonathan Anderson from Army by just four one-hundredths of a second. Freshman Cory Loftis (Branford, Conn.) crossed the line in fourth place with an ECAC qualifying time of 30:56.88.
The women's team was led in the 10,000 by junior Sarah Croteau (Westminster, Mass.), finishing in seventh place with a New England Championship qualifying time of 38:17.11. Freshman Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.) finished eighth and also qualified for the New England's with a time of 38:22.96.
The women's 4x800 relay team, ran by freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.), junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.), freshman Alison Nadeau (Norfolk, Mass.) and sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.) finished in third place with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:01.54.
In the field events, senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland) led the Crusaders with a second place finish in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.45 meters. Bautista finished third in the long jump with a distance of 5.28 meters. Junior Chantal Couture (Taunton, Mass.) placed third in the javelin with a New England qualifying distance of 38.88 meters. Senior Stephen Mandravelis (Nashua, N.H.) placed fourth in the hammer throw with an IC4A qualifying distance of 55.60 meters.
Junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) qualified for the finals in the 100 dash with a time of 12.55 seconds and in the 200 with a time of 25.00 seconds. Senior Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.) qualified for the finals in the 200 with a time of 22.54 seconds, as did senior Kyle Mushaweh (Woodbury, Conn.) with a time of 22.53 seconds.
Holy Cross will continue competition at the Patriot League Championship on Saturday, May 2 starting at 9:00 a.m.
