Women's Track & Field Breaks Records At Penn Relays

Philadelphia, Pa. - Two school relay records were broken as select members of the Holy Cross women's track and field team competed at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. on Thursday-Saturday, April 23-25.

The sprint medley relay, ran by sophomore Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.), junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), senior Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.) and sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.), ran a school record time of 4:06.66. The relay team broke the school record, set in 1988, by a crushing 26 seconds.

In the 4x200 relay, sophomore M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.), Reid, senior Lauren Tallon (Lake Forest, Ill.) and White set a new school record with a time of 1:42.82. The previous record of 1:47.50 was set at the Penn Relays in 2005.

The 4x800 relay, ran by freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.), freshman Alison Nadeau (Norfolk, Mass.), junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.) and senior Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.), finished with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:10.32. The 4x400, ran by Courtney, sophomore Cassandra Anderson (Saugus, Mass.), Tallon and junior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) finished with a time of 3:57.66, while the 4x100 relay ran by senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland.), White, freshman Rachel Salemme (Chicago, Ill.) and Reid finished with a time of 50.59.

Bautista led the Crusaders with a second place finish in the women's college division pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 3.65 meters.

The Holy Cross women's track and field team will travel to the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday, April 26.
