First Day Complete At 2007 HC Decathlon & Heptathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The first day of competition is complete at the 2007 Holy Cross Decathlon & Heptathlon. In the women's heptathlon, Natasha Smith (unattached) currently stands in first place with a total of 2,821 points through four events. In the men's decathlon, Steve Blum of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy holds the lead with 3,260 total points through five events.

On the women's side, three Crusaders currently stand in second, third and fourth place. Freshman Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) is in second place with 2,697 points, sophomore Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.) ranks third with 2,329 points, and senior Kerilyn Anderson (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) stands fourth with 2,215 points.

For the men, Holy Cross sophomore Benjamin Jerome currently stands in 17th place with 2,554 points, while junior Matthew Kaili ranks 22nd with 2,157 points.

The Holy Cross Decathlon & Heptathlon will conclude on Friday, April 20, with the final five events for the men and the last three events for the women. Competition will begin at 10:30 a.m.
