BOSTON, Mass. - Junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and senior Lesley Bautista (St John's, Newfoundland.) each broke the Holy Cross school record in the 55 meter dash at the New England Indoor Championships on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 27-28 held at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Mass. The Crusaders finished in 8th place out of 32 teams with 32 points, while the University of Connecticut claimed first with 186.50 points.
Bautista finished ninth in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.40 seconds, but broke the school record with a time of 7.39 seconds in the semi-final round of competition. Reid followed Bautista's record breaking time with a new school record time of 7.38 seconds. Senior Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.) led Holy Cross with a third place finish in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:16.07. Junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.) also led the Crusaders with a third place finish in the one mile run with a time of 5:00.26. Junior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) took fourth in the pentathlon with 2,489 points, while junior Sarah Croteau (Westminster, Mass.) finished sixth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 17:42.53. Freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) took eighth in the 1000 meter run and senior Dannielle Meder (Chicopee, Mass.) took eighth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.49 second.
The Holy Cross relay teams were led by a third place finish in the 4x800. Senior Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.), freshman Alison Nadeau (Norfolk, Mass.), sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.) and Meagher combined to finish third with a time of 9:10.75. The distance medley team, ran by Burgess, Swiatocha, Nadeau and senior Sophia Grammenos (Gardner, Mass.) finished in seventh place with a time of 12:14.70.
Select members of the Holy Cross women's track and field team will travel to Boston, Mass. on March 7-8 for the IC4A Indoor Championships starting at 11:00 a.m.
