ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Holy Cross men's and women's indoor track and field teams completed the three-day long Patriot League Championships on Sunday afternoon. Both teams took eighth place over the weekend. The women's team scored 14 points as the men scored 10 overall.
Winning the women's championships was Bucknell with 190 points. Army took the men's crown with a total of 188 points. For the Crusader women, six different student-athletes won points for the team total.
Senior Emily Winacoo (Holden, Mass.) was the lone woman responsible for recording points in multiple events. Winacoo took fourth place in the 500-meter dash (four points) with a time of 1:19.78.
The senior was also part of the 4x400-meter relay team that took fourth overall, again earning four points with a time of 4:02.97. Other members of the team were sophomore Katie Spinelli (Southington, Conn.), freshman Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.) and freshman Lauren Tallon (Lake Forest, Ill.)
On the men's side, junior Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) took third place overall in the men's weight throw to earn six points. Carr's throw of 16.47 meters earned the highest individual point total for any Crusader on the day.
Freshman Andrew Maggio (Chelmsford, Mass.) earned two points by taking fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.84.
Both teams will take part in the New England Championships next weekend, Feb. 24 and 25. Friday's events will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Boston, Mass.
