Crusaders Compete At St. Valentine Invite

Boston, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's indoor track and field team competed in the St. Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.

Senior Kaitlin Palmer (Hampton, N.H.) qualified for the New England Championships after clearing 3.36 meters in the pole vault.

The Crusaders' top runner in the 500-meter run was junior Emily Winacoo (Holden, Mass.), who placed fifth with a time of 1:18.63. Also running in the event was newcomer Jillian Edmunds (Salem, N.H.), who finished 10th with a time of 1:19.60, freshman Christine Carifio (Haverhill, Mass.), who finished with a time of 1:22.37, sophomore Kara Plunkett (Topsfield, Mass.), who finished with a time of 1:22.37 and senior Beth Miczek (Leicester, Mass.), who ran the distance in 1:24.33.

In the 5,000 meter run Elizabeth Desmond (Portland, Maine) placed 16th with a time of 18:10.09.

Veteran Jaclyne Manzi (Plymouth, N.H.) finished 23rd for the Crusaders in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 3:13.24.

In the one mile run senior Lindsey Bomar (Bristol, Conn.) recorded a personal-best of 5:08.30. Senior Laura Snebold (Winchester, Mass.) and sophomore Elizabeth Bloomer (Quincy, Mass.) each ran season-bests in the event. Snebold finished the mile in 5:33.85, while Bloomer finished with a time of 5:41.21. Also competing in the one mile run was senior Elizabeth Corrdian (Holliston, Mass.), who finished with a time of 5:31.17 and senior Brenna Flynn (Wenham, Mass.), who finished with a time of 5:39.91.

Posting a personal-record in the 400-meter dash and tops for Holy Cross was freshman Katie Spinelli (Southington, Conn.), who ran the distance in 1:00.44. Also competing in the event and registering season-bests was senior Sara Simeone (Nashua, N.H.), who finished with a time of 1:01.59, sophomore Megan Williams (Westfield, Mass.), who finished with a time of 1:02.44, and Christine Carroll (North Merrick, N.Y.), who finished with a time of 1:04.15.

Senior Julie Brennan (Pembroke, Mass.) competed in the 800 meter run, completing the distance in a time of 2:26.83.

The Crusaders travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 18-20.
