Women's Track & Field Takes Part In Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland) placed third in the pole vault to lead the Holy Cross women's indoor track and field team at the 2009 Valentine Invitational, held at Boston University. Bautista cleared a height of 3.50 meters in the pole vault, and also placed 26th in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.51 seconds. No team scores were kept at the meet.

Junior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) earned a ninth place finish in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.58 meters, while the Holy Cross 4x400 meter relay team was eighth in a time of 3:55.98. In the 55-meter hurdles senior Dannielle Meder (Chicopee, Mass.) came in 13th with a time of 8.61 seconds and freshman Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) placed 17th in a time of 8.75 seconds.

In the shot put, freshman Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) was 14th with a throw of 12.02 meters and freshman Cassie Canastra (Rochester, Mass.) came in 19th with a distance of 11.37 meters. The Crusaders also fared well in the weight throw, with senior Katherine Clifford (Norwood, Mass.) placing 14th with a toss of 14.59 meters, and junior Rachel Amaral (Raynham, Mass.) finishing 16th with a throw of 14.15 meters.

Holy Cross returns to action when it takes part in the Patriot League Championhip from Feb. 20-22 in Annapolis, Md.
