BOSTON, Mass. - Senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland) led the women's track and field team with a fifth place finish in the pole vault Friday, Jan. 23 at the Terrier Invitational in Boston, Mass. Bautista cleared a height of 3.5 meters and qualified for the New England Indoor Championships on Feb. 27.
Bautista and six teammates performed above the qualifying mark for the New England Indoor Championships. In the 500 meter run junior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) finished 12th with a qualifying time of 1:16.43, senior Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.) took 13th with a qualifying time of 1:16.60 and sophomore Cassandra Anderson (Saugus, Mass.) finished in 35th place with a qualifying time of 1:19.92. Junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.), freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.) also ran at a New England Indoor Championships qualifying pace in the 1000 meter run. Meagher finished 15th in 2:58.18, Hartnett took 20th in 2:59.98 and Burges finished 24th in 3:02.34.
Also having top performances for the Cursaders was senior Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.) with a 27th place finish in the mile run (5:10.74), junior Sarah Croteau (Westminster, Mass.) finishing 27th in the 5000 meter run (18:37.23) and freshman Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) with a 10th place finish in the shot put (12.16 meters).
The Crusaders continue indoor competition traveling back to Boston, Mass on Friday, Jan. 30 for the Reebok Indoor Games.
