Bronx, N.Y. - The Holy Cross indoor track teams competed at the Fordham Invitational on Friday afternoon. Both teams traveled to the New York City Armory to take part in the action.
On the men's side, senior Robert Leader (Leominster, Mass.) was the best finisher in the track events for the Crusader as he took fifth place in the 400-meter dash in a time of 50.07 seconds. Junior Nicholas Carr (Concord, Mass.) also took fifth in the men's weight throw event (14.86 m) as sophomore teammate Kevin Dowd (Broad Brook, Conn.) finished 10th in the triple jump (12.56 m).
The best women's finisher on the day was freshman Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.) who took eighth in the 3000-meter run in a time of 11:21.34. Fellow freshman Colleen Spilka (Hamden, Conn.) was also a top 10 finisher as she ran in ninth place overall in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:09.34.
Both Holy Cross teams will compete again on January 13-14 at the Yale Pentathlon and Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
