WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from April 28-May 4. Okpoebo helped lead the Holy Cross women's outdoor track and field team to a sixth place finish out of 10 schools at last week's Patriot League Championship in Annapolis, Md.
On Saturday, Okpoebo set new school and Patriot League records by winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.05 seconds. By capturing first place in that event, she become only the seventh female in Patriot League history to win the same event four consecutive years. Okpoebo also finished in third place in the 100-meter dash (11.70), while running a leg on the second-place 4x100-meter relay team (47.01) and the sixth-place 4x400-meter relay team (3:57.86).
Over the course of her Holy Cross career, Okpoebo has set new school records in the 55-meter dash (7.14), 60-meter dash (7.49), 200-meter dash (24.05) and 300-meter dash (40.52). She has also been a part of the school record-setting 4x100-meter (46.98) and the 4x200-meter (1:42.24) relay teams.
The Crusaders return to action on Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, when they take part in the New England Championship in Westfield, Mass.
