PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Sophomore Elizabeth Provost (Adams, Mass.) had a pair of top five finishes, as the Holy Cross women's track and field team took part in the Brown Invitational. Provost finished third in the shot put with a distance of 11.96 meters, while placing fourth in the discus with a throw of 39.90 meters.
A number other Crusaders earned top five finishes over the course of the meet. In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Oona Wood (Williamstown, Mass.) came in third with a time of 59.33 seconds, while junior Fiorella Johnson (Redding, Conn.) finished fifth (1:01.19). Freshman Caroline Carr (Ridgefield, Conn.) placed fourth (18:51.53) and senior Amanda Waldron (Walpole, Mass.) was fifth (18:54.28) in the 5,000-meter run, while in the pole vault junior Michelle McGahan (Acton, Mass.) finished fourth (3.35 meters) and freshman Samantha Speroni (Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif.) was fifth (3.35 meters).
In other events, sophomore Melissa LaCoste (Amherst, N.H.) came in third in the high jump (1.50 meters), junior Allison Maier (Orange, Conn.) placed fourth in the 200-meter dash (27.42), sophomore Alex Eckert (Bergenfield, N.J.) finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.46) and freshman Emily Iannaconi (Long Valley, N.J.) was fifth in the 3,000-meter run (11:17.32).
The Crusaders return to action this Friday and Saturday, May 2 and 3, when they take part in the Patriot League Championship at Ingram Field in Annapolis, Md.
