Dahlstrom, McGahan Named To Academic All-Patriot League Team

WORCESTER, Mass.­ Juniors Sarah Dahlstrom (Southborough, Mass.) and Michelle McGahan (Acton, Mass.) have been selected to the 2014 indoor track and field Academic All-Patriot League team, as voted on by the league's sports information directors. To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter of key player in his/her sport.

Dahlstrom finished second overall and earned second team All-Patriot League honors in the pentathlon at the 2014 Patriot League Indoor Championship with a score of 3,295. She finished first in the shot put (11.77 meters), third in the high jump (1.55 meter) and long jump (4.98 meters), sixth in the 800 (2:31.13) and 10th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.86). She also competed in the individual shot put event and finished eighth with a career-best distance of 12.07 meters. She set a career-best mark in the pentathlon earlier this season at the Rhode Island Pentathlon with a score of 3,310. At Rhode Island, she also set a career-best time in the 800 (2:30.02). Dahlstrom, an Economics major, holds a 3.63 cumulative grade-point average. This is the second straight indoor season she has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team.

McGahan competed in the pole vault at the 2014 Patriot League Indoor Championship, finishing tied for sixth with a height of 3.45 meters. She set a career-best height in the pole vault earlier this season at Maine with a height of 3.55 meters. She has also competed in the long jump this season, posting a season-best distance of 4.83 meters at New Hampshire. McGahan, a Math major, boasts a 3.86 cumulative grade-point average.

Qualifying members of the women's indoor track and field team will return to action at the New England Indoor Championship today and tomorrow, Feb. 28-March 1, at Boston University.
