WORCESTER, Mass. - Sophomore Caroline Carley (Barrington, Ill.) has been named the GoHolyCross.com Crusader of the Week, for competition from February 3-9. Carley led the Holy Cross indoor women's track and field team to a strong showing at the Valentine Invitational last Friday.
During the Valentine Invitational at Boston University, Carley finished in third place in the 1,000-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 2:49.46. Her time was the fastest of all collegiate competitors in the event, and the fastest by any athlete in the Patriot League this season. The mark of 2:49.46 is also the second-best 1,000-meter time in Holy Cross history. In addition, Carley ran the anchor leg on the Crusaders' 4x400-meter relay team, which finished 20th out of 53 teams at the Valentine Invitational with a time of 4:00.23.
On the season, Carley has run Holy Cross' fastest times in both the 800-meter run (2:13.37) and the 1,000-meter run (2:49.46), while ranking third on the team in the one-mile run (5:08.85).
Holy Cross returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 15, when it takes part in the Scarlet & White Invitational at Boston University.
