WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women's indoor track and field team was selected to finish sixth in the Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Buckenll, the defending Patriot League indoor champions, was selected to finish first with 14 first place votes and 155 overall points. Navy was selected to finish second with 144 points and five first place votes. Conference newcomer Boston University was selected third with 130 points and four first place votes.
Lehigh claimed the fourth spot with 116 points followed by Army in fifth with 95. Holy Cross landed sixth with 79 points and Lafayette (63), Loyola (Md.) (46) Colgate (42) and American (30) rounded out the poll.
Holy Cross is set to begin the 2013-2014 campaign today, Dec. 6, with select athletes competing at the Rhode Island Pentathlon. The entire team will begin tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Boston University Season Opener beginning at 10:00 a.m.
