WORCESTER, Mass. - Junior Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from April 29-May 5. Okpoebo led the Holy Cross women's outdoor track and field team to a fourth place finish at last weekend's Patriot League Championship in Bethlehem, Pa.
At the Patriot League Championship, Okpoebo won the 100-meter dash in a career-best time of 11.85 seconds, and also claimed first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.65 seconds. In addition, she ran the anchor leg on Holy Cross' second place 4x100-meter relay team (47.06) and the lead-off leg on the Crusaders' fourth place 4x400-meter relay team (3:53.27).
Okpoebo is currently the all-time Holy Cross record holder in the 55-meter dash (7.15), 60-meter dash (7.53), 200-meter dash (24.19) and 300-meter dash (40.52). Her 100-meter dash time of 11.85 at the Patriot League Championship is only one one-hundredth of a second off the all-time school record of 11.84 (set by Tiffany Reid in 2009).
Holy Cross' returns to action this Friday and Saturday, May 10 and 11, when it takes part in the New England Championship at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.
