PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Select members of the women's track and field team traveled to the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday afternoon as sophomores Maddie Dodge (Rumford, R.I.) and Mackenzie Arndt (Merrimack, Mass.) led the Crusaders with a pair of second place finishes. Dodge finished the 100-meter dash with a career-best time of 12.87 seconds and Arndt cleared a height of 3.65 meters in the pole vault.
On the track, sophomore Payton Shubrick (Springfield, Mass.) posted fourth place finishes in 100-meter dash (13.24 seconds) and 200-meter dash (26.42 seconds), both of which were career-best times. Sophomore Alexandra Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y.) also took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a career-best time of 16.46 and freshman Caroline Carley (Barrington, Ill.) finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 2:16.85.
In the field events, junior Christy Manning (Scarborough, Maine) finished third in the hammer throw with a career-best distance of 46.91 meters followed by senior Kelcey Germain (Auburn, Mass.) and freshman Elizabeth Provost (Adams, Mass.) who took fourth (45.91 meters) and fifth (season-best, 40.27 meters), respectively. Sophomore MaryGrace Brogioli (Wareham, Mass.) landed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.12 meters while fellow classmate Marissa Romano (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) finished right behind her in fifth place (5.09 meters). The duo reversed their results in the triple jump as Romano took fourth (10.89 meters) and Brogioli finished fifth (10.85 meters). Sophomore Michelle McGahan (Acton, Mass.) also finished fourth behind Arndt in the pole vault with a career-best height of 3.50 meters.
The Crusaders will return to action on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, at the Patriot League Championship, hosted by Lehigh.
