- The Holy Cross women's track and field team is set to begin the 2012-2013 indoor season this Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Jay Carisella Invitational, hosted by Northeastern.
- Holy Cross has opened its season in recent history at the Alden Invitational in Providence, R.I., hosted by Brown. Select members of the team have also begun their season at the Rhode Island Pentathlon. The Jay Carisella Invitational began in 2009 but this will be the first time the Crusaders have participated in the meet.
- The Crusaders finished fourth at the 2011-2012 Patriot League Indoor Championship and followed that performance up with a fourth place finish out of 35 teams at the New England Championship. Junior Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the team with two first place finishes at the PL Championship in the 60-meter (7.68 seconds) and 200-meter (25.15 seconds) dashes. At the New England Championship, the Crusaders earned six top-five finishes. Seniors Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.) and Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) earned fourth place finishes in the 1,000-meter and 500-meter, respectively. As a team, Holy Cross landed among some of the best competition in the northeast, finishing behind Connecticut, Sacred Heart and Rhode Island while tying Northeastern.
- Holy Cross lost nine seniors to graduation but adds sixteen freshmen to the 2012-2013 squad.
