37 From Women's Track & Field Selected To Academic Honor Roll

WORCESTER, Mass. - Thirty-seven members of the Holy Cross women's track and field team have been selected to the 2011-2012 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the conference office. The Crusaders' 37 selections to the honor roll were the second-most in the league this season. Leading the way for Holy Cross were seniors Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.), Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) and Sarah Mellea (North Arlington, N.J.), who were all named to the team for the fourth consecutive season.

Crusaders who earned their third career selection to the honor roll were seniors Jennifer Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland), Kara Brownell (Cherry Valley, Mass.) and Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.). Student-athletes who were chosen to the team for the second time include seniors Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) and Megan Skwirz (Smithfield, R.I.); juniors Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.), Sarah Meinelt (Topsfield, Mass.) and Bridget Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.); and sophomores Lauren Bellerose (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Sammy DeCoste (Hingham, Mass.), Beth Fullerton (Bradford, Mass.), Mary Fullerton (Bradford, Mass.) and Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.).

Holy Cross' first-time selections to the honor roll were juniors Melanie Forte (Milford, N.H.), Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Cassandra Pierre-Louis (Worcester, Mass.); sophomores Catherine Cafaro (Garden City, N.Y.), Kerry Dunne (Mendham, N.J.), Mariel Flood (Kinnelon, N.J.), Hannah McCormick (Newburyport, Mass.), Caroline Quinn (Fall River, Mass.), Sandra van den Heuvel (Nashua, N.H.) and Amanda Waldron (Walpole, Mass.); and freshmen Katie Bobinski (Torrington, Conn.), Sarah Dahlstrom (Southborough, Mass.), Cailee Dean (Southampton, Mass.), Maddie Dodge (Rumford, R.I.), Andrea Gendron (Hopkinton, Mass.), Julia Levesque (West Simsbury, Conn.), Laura McBride (North Reading, Mass.), Michelle McGahan (Acton, Mass.), Alexandra Parise (Pine Bush, N.Y.), Melissa Sheridan (Loudonville, N.Y.) and Kate Sullivan (Southborough, Mass.).

A total of 202 student-athletes from women's track and field teams around the league earned spots on this year's Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a grade point average of 3.20 or better during the spring semester.
