Women's Track & Field To Host Patriot League Outdoor Championship

Schedule: Friday-Saturday, May 4-5, Patriot League Championship, Worcester, Mass., 9:15 a.m. (5/4) & 10:15 a.m. (5/5)
- The women's track and field team will host the 2012 outdoor track and field Patriot League Championship this Friday-Saturday, May 4-5, at the Hart Track. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. on Friday with day two starting at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday.
- The Crusaders finished in fourth place in the 2012 indoor track and field championship (2/17-2/19). In last year's outdoor championship, Holy Cross finished fifth of eight teams. Sophomore Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished in first place in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and seniors Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) and Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) each broke school records during last year's outdoor championship. Bucknell won the team title with 189.5 points, followed by Navy (164), Lehigh (84) and Lafayette (64). The Crusaders finished with 62 points.
- Thirty-two student-athletes will be representing the Crusaders in this year's championship. This is the first time since the 2006 outdoor season that Holy Cross is hosting the eight-team meet and the Crusaders will be looking for its first Patriot League Championship. Bucknell leads the way with 12 titles since the competition began in 1991, including winning the past three years. Army has eight championships, including winning seven straight from 1992-1998. Navy is the only other past champion, winning the title in 2003.
