Women's Track & Field To Host Heptathlon And Seven Team Meet

- The women's track and field team will compete in its first home meets of the season this week. The Crusaders will host the Holy Cross Heptathlon on Wednesday and Thursday, April 18-19, beginning at 12:00 p.m. (4/18) and 11:30 a.m. (4/19). The team will then welcome Bryant, Central Connecticut, Hartford, Maine, Massachusetts and Stonehill to Worcester for a meet on Saturday, April 21, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
- The Crusaders last hosted the heptathlon on April 14-15, 2010 and Jesse Labreck from the University of Maine won with 4,922 points. The student-athletes will compete in seven events including the 100 meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meter dash, long jump, javelin throw and 800 meter run.
- In last season's annual weekend home meet, Holy Cross hosted AIC, Central Connecticut, Hartford and Maine on April 23 and the Crusaders finished first overall. Senior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) set a new school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.28. Senior Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) finished first in the 100 meter hurdles and senior Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) took first in the shot put with a distance of 12.19 meters. The 4x400 meter relay team comprised of junior Rachelle Sylvia (Westerly, R.I.), Hartnett, graduate Cassandra Anderson and junior Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) won the race with a time of 3:58.30.
- Holy Cross is coming off a solid performance at the UMass Invitational (4/14) finishing third of 15 teams, ahead of instate rival Boston College and tallying first place finishes in three different events.
