Women's Track & Field Gears Up For UMass Invitational

  • The women's track and field team will travel to Amherst, Mass. on Saturday, April 14, for the UMass Invitational beginning at 11:30 a.m.
  • Last season, the Crusaders took home three first place finishes at the UMass Invitational. Junior Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished first in the 400 meter hurdles with a New England Championship (NEC) qualifying time of 1:07.24. Senior Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) finished first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.00 seconds and graduate Cassandra Anderson claimed first in the 400 meter dash crossing the line at 1:00.16. Two other Crusaders also qualified for the NEC during last year's meet including senior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:13.79 and sophomore Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.56 seconds.
  • The Crusaders have now competed in six outdoor track and field events this season, including taking part in three different events this past weekend (4/7). Select members of the team traveled to Auburn, Ala. to compete in the Tiger Classic involving student-athletes from large conferences around the country including Auburn, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and Syracuse. Other Holy Cross team members traveled to the Wagner Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y. while the majority of the team made the trip north to Durham, N.H. to take on New Hampshire and Maine.
