Women's Track & Field To Compete In Two Meets Saturday

- Members of the women's track and field team will head to New Hampshire on Saturday, April 7, to take on the Wildcats as well as the Maine Black Bears beginning at 11:00 a.m. New Hampshire and Maine are coming off a meet on March 31 in which the Black Bears hosted New Hampshire and Bates. Other select members of the team will travel to Auburn, Ala. to take part in the Auburn Tiger Classic, rather than to New Hampshire on Saturday. This will be the first time in recent history the Crusaders have traveled to the Tiger Classic.
- Last season at the New Hampshire Invitational, sophomore Christy Manning (Scarborough, Maine) placed fifth in the discus throw with a distance of 35.02 meters, seventh in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.13 meters and sixth in the javelin with a distance of 35.73 meters. Sophomore Emily Hughes (Milton, Mass.) and junior Lizzie Harkins (Latrobe, Pa.) finished seventh in their respective events with Hughes crossing the finish line with a time of 18:13.77 in the 5,000 meter run and Harkins at 2:23.87 in the 800 meter.
- Select Throwers on the track and field team took part in the Worcester State University Invitational on Friday (3/30) and traveled to West Point, N.Y. on Saturday (3/31) to compete in the Dick Shea Open. Senior Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Crusaders earning first overall in hammer throw at the WSU Invitational. She also finished first in the shot put and placed sixth and seventh in the hammer throw and discus, respectively, at the Dick Shea Open.
