Women's Track & Field Preps For Dick Shea Open

  • The women?s track and field team will compete in the Dick Shea Open in West Point, N.Y. this Saturday, March 31. This will the second outdoor meet of the season for the Crusaders and the first time the team will compete at this event.
  • On this weekend last season, the Crusaders traveled to the American International Invitational and took home first place out of seven teams. Holy Cross won nine events and won the title over UMass Amherst by a total of 67 points. Six members of the team also qualified for the New England Championship in only the third meet of the outdoor season. Five of the seven first place finishers in individual events were underclassmen and three of the four members of both the first place 4x100 meter relay and 4x400 meter relay teams returned to the roster this season. Individual first place finishers included seniors Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.), Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) and Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.), junior Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) and sophomore Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.).
  • The Crusaders opened the spring outdoor track and field season at the Husky Spring Open (3/24) hosted by Northeastern. Ten Holy Cross athletes recorded top-10 finishes in 13 different events. The Crusaders were led in the track events by Okpoebo who took second and fifth respectively in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes. In the field events, senior Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) also took home a second and fifth place finish in shot put and discus throw, respectively.
