Crusaders Ready To Travel To New Hampshire

Schedule: Saturday, Jan. 21 at New Hampshire with Stonehill, Durham, N.H., 12:00 p.m.

  • The Holy Cross women's track and field team continues action over the winter break when it travels to compete at New Hampshire with Stonehill on Saturday, Jan. 21.
  • The Holy Cross Crusaders have recently competed at New Hampshire around the same time of the year. Each year they compete against New Hampshire, but the other competing teams change from year to year. Last year Holy Cross competed against New Hampshire, Stonehill and Worcester State. Last year in Durham, junior Melanie Forte (Milford, N.H.) crossed the line first in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.42 seconds. Forte and sophomore Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) led the field in the 200, with Okpoebo taking first with a time of 26.90 seconds and Forte finishing second with a time of 27.26 seconds.
  • The Holy Cross Crusaders faired very well at the Sorlien Memorial Invitational. Okpoebo led the Crusaders who finished in first place in the 200 with a time of 25.83 seconds and second place in the 60 with a time of 7.80 seconds. Senior Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) was the top Crusader in all throwing events with a toss of 15.11 meters finishing in fourth place in the weight throw and threw for a distance of 12.00 meters finishing in seventh place in the shot put.
  • The Holy Cross Crusaders were led by a few underclassman performances at the Yale Invitational. Freshman Abigail Mitchell (Manchester, N.H.) led the Crusaders in the one mile with a time of 5:27.07 finishing in 16th place. In the 400 the Crusaders were led by freshman Fiorella Johnson (Redding, Conn.) finishing in 14th place with a time of 59.80 seconds.
