Track And Field Hosts New Year's Field Day

- The Holy Cross women's track and field team continues action over the winter break when it hosts the Holy Cross New Year's Field Day on Tuesday, Jan. 3 and travels to Rhode Island's Sorlien Memorial Invitational on Friday, Jan. 13. Team competition will resume at the Yale Invitational on Jan. 14.
- Last year at the Holy Cross New Year's Field Day, Holy Cross' top performers included senior Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) who placed first in women's shot put with a distance of 37' 4.75" and women's weight throw with a distance of 50' 8.5", junior Melanie Forte (Milford, N.H.) who placed first in the women's long jump with a distance of 15' 11.5", and fellow classmate Sarah Meinelt (Topsfield, Mass.) who won the women's triple jump with a distance of 34' 9.25."
- The Holy Cross Crusaders competed in Rhode Island's Sorlien Memorial Invitational the past two seasons. Last year junior Forte led the Crusaders in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.48 seconds and a fourth place finish. Forte also placed third in the 200 with a time of 26.94 seconds. In the 55 meter hurdles, sophomore Kylene Carey (East Bridgewater, Mass.) finished fourth with a time of 8.98 seconds. In the 1,000, Senior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) qualified for the New England Indoor Championship with a second place finish and time of 2:58.84
- The Holy Cross Crusaders were the only Patriot League team who competed in the Boston University Mini-Meet as it was a small squad event. The Boston University Mini-Meet was the only competition for Holy Cross over the winter break.
