Hartnett & Johnson Earn Patriot League Weekly Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) and freshman Fiorella Johnson (Redding, Conn.), members of the Holy Cross women's track and field team, have both been honored by the Patriot League for their accomplishments last week. Hartnett was named the Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week, while Johnson earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors.
During the Harvard Open on Saturday, Hartnett captured first place in the 800-meter run. She finished the event in a time of 2:16.78, to qualify for the 2012 New England Championship. This marks the second time Hartnett has been named the Patriot League Track Athlete of the Week during her collegiate career, after she previously earned the honor on Dec. 13, 2010.
Johnson ran in two events at the Harvard Open, and had a team-best fourth place finish in the 400-meter dash. She clocked a time of 59.26 seconds in the event, good enough to qualify for the 2012 New England Championship. Johnson also raced in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 24th place with a time of 27.19 seconds.
The Crusaders return to action this Saturday, Dec. 17, with selected athletes taking part in the Boston University Mini Meet.
