WORCESTER, Mass. - Freshman Stephanie Okpoebo (Chelmsford, Mass.) has been named the AT&T Crusader of the Week, for competition from May 2-8. Okpoebo led the Holy Cross women's outdoor track and field team to a fifth place finish at last weekend's Patriot League Championship, held in Easton, Pa.
During Friday's preliminary heats, Okpoebo posted the fastest qualifying times in both the 100-meter dash (12.20) and the 200-meter dash (25.70). She then won the Patriot League title in both of those events on Saturday, finishing in first place with times of 12.31 in the 100-meter dash and 24.85 in the 200-meter dash. In addition, Okpoebo ran the anchor leg on Holy Cross' 4x100-meter relay team which claimed second place in an ECAC qualifying time of 47.85.
The Crusaders will return to action this weekend, when they take part in the New England Championship on Friday and Saturday, May 13-14.
