Women's Track & Field Set For American International Invitational

  • In lieu of the Rensselaer Invitational, which was cancelled due to weather, select members of the Holy Cross women's track and field team competed at the Worcester City Championship last Saturday. Freshman Christy Manning (Scarborough, Maine) led the Crusaders with two top-five finishes. Manning placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 34.42 meters, and fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.76 meters. Sophomore Kelcey Germain (Auburn, Mass.) placed fourth in the hammer throw, with a distance of 38.15 meters, while junior Cassie Canastra (Rochester, Mass.) placed eighth in the hammer throw, with distance of 34.68 meters. Also competing for the Crusaders was freshman Alisha Thompson (Lynbrook, N.Y.), who placed 12th and threw a personal-best distance of 29.99 meters in the hammer throw.
  • The Crusaders will continue the outdoor season this weekend, competing at the American International Invitational in Springfield, Mass. This is the Yellow Jackets' first time hosting the invitational. At the meet, the Crusaders will look towards qualifying for the New England Championship and ECAC Championship. Junior Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) has already qualified for the New England Championship in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.92 seconds. Linnehan looks to lower her seed time and ultimately qualify for the ECAC Championship, running under 14.34 seconds. Junior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) also looks to qualify for the New England Championship in the 800.
