Crusaders Head Outdoors For The Husky Spring Open

  • The Holy Cross women's track and field team will open the 2011 outdoor season at the Husky Spring Open, hosted by Northeastern at the Solomon Outdoor Track in Dedham, Mass. on March 19.
  • This will be the seventh consecutive season that Holy Cross has opened the outdoor season at the Solomon Outdoor Track. Last year, Holy Cross placed second in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay, while sophomore Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:06.21.
  • During the 2010 outdoor season, junior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) broke the Holy Cross school record in the 800 with a time of 2:12.49 at the Patriot League Championship. Hartnett bettered that time during the 2011 indoor season, recording a new school record time of 2:11.67 at the ECAC Indoor Championship.
  • Last season, Holy Cross finished fourth at the Patriot League Outdoor Championship with the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams earning top finishes. Former Crusader Tiffany Reid won the 100 and 200 meter dashes to lead the team, while Hartnett finished second in the 800.
