Crusaders Set For Dual Meet Against Maine

  • The Holy Cross women's track and field team returns to road competition, traveling to Maine on Friday for a dual meet against the Black Bears starting at 9:00 a.m.
  • Last season, the Crusaders were defeated by the Black Bears 102-73 at the Maine Field House in Orono, Maine. Holy Cross showed its strength in the throwing events as it took the top two spots in the weight throw and shot put. Junior Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) finished second in the weight throw with a distance of 14.97 meters. Culkeen then led the Crusaders in the shot put with a distance of 11.96 meters, finishing first. On the track, the Crusaders were led by top finishes in the distance and mid-distance events. Junior Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) finished first in the 800 with a time of 2:17.15 while fellow junior Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) took first in the 3,000 with a time of 10:01.13.
  • Last weekend at the Boston Indoor Games, Hartnett placed fourth in the one mile with an ECAC qualifying time of 4:57.82 while sophomore Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.) finished eighth in the 1,000 with a time of 2:59.16. Junior Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) finished eighth in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.49 seconds. Culkeen placed ninth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.57 meters and fifth in the shot put with a distance of 12.22 meters.
