PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In a tune up for the Patriot League Championship, the Holy Cross men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Brown Springtime Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Leading the Crusaders was sophomore Michael Millard (Manhasset, N.Y.) with a first place finish in the pole vault with a height of 3.90 meters. Senior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) led the women's team with a third place finish in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.41.
Freshman Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) followed Pruszko across the line, finishing the 400 hurdles in fourth place with a time of 1:06.13. Senior Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 3,000 meter steeple chase with a time of 11:35.46, while sophomore Katelyn Andree (Colts Neck, N.J.) took fifth with a time of 12:06.54. Junior Ashley Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) finished ninth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.99 seconds, junior Cassandra Anderson (Saugus, Mass.) finished ninth in the 800 with a time of 2:15.88, sophomore Stephen Madsen (New Providence, N.J.) finished 11th in the 400 with a time of 53.46 seconds and junior Allison Fimognari (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished 12th in the 5,000 with a time of 19:57.04.
In the field events, Holy Cross was led by Nicholas LeBlanc (New Bedford, Mass.) with a fourth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.61 meters, while junior Kenneth McKenna (Ossining, N.Y.) took fifth with a distance of 12.01 meters. Senior Rachel Amaral (Raynham, Mass.) finished sixth in the discus with a distance of 38.94 meters and sixth in the hammer with a distance of 41.46 meters. Senior Chantal Couture (Taunton, Mass.) finished sixth in the javelin with a distance of 34.64 meters.
Holy Cross will kick off Patriot League Championship action on April 30 starting at 10:00 a.m.
