DEDHAM, Mass. – Senior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) placed first in two events to lead the Holy Cross women’s track and field team at the Husky Spring Open Saturday afternoon. Reid finished first in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.22 seconds and then placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.43 seconds. Teammate M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 100 with a time of 12.75 seconds and fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.72 seconds.
Senior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) placed first in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.45, while freshman Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) placed second with a time of 1:06.21 and junior Ashley Buckley (Duxbury, Mass.) placed fourth with a time of 1:08.67. In the 100 hurdles, sophomore Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) placed third with a personal-best time of 14.70 seconds. Senior Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.) placed fourth in the 5,000 with a time of 19:00.67 and senior Meghan Dunne (Mendham, N.J.) finished eighth in the 10,000 with a time of 41:06.70. Juniors Cassandra Anderson (Saugus, Mass.) and Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.) finished sixth and seventh in the 1,500 respectively, while Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.) took fifth in the 800.
Holy Cross placed second in both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays. In the 4x100, freshman Melanie Forte (Milford, N.H.), Reid, Caitlin White and Straub teamed up to finish with a time of 50.44. In the 4x400, Pruszko, Brekka, Anderson and Gorski finished with a time of 4:04.10.
In the field events, Holy Cross was led by a fourth place finish by freshman Bridget Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.). Straub took fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.73 meters. In the shot put, sophomore Cassie Canastra (Rochester, Mass.) took sixth with a distance of 10.85 meters and senior Rachel Amaral (Raynham, Mass.) placed seventh with a distance of 10.84 meters. Amaral finished ninth in the hammer throw with a distance of 40.61 meters.
Holy Cross continues outdoor competition next weekend, March 27, at the RPI Invitational in Troy, N.Y.
