DURHAM, N.H. - Senior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) took first in two events as the Holy Cross track and field teams competed against the University of New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in Durham, N.H. The women's team was defeated by UNH, 103-74 and the men's team lost by a score of 124-51.
Reid took first in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.34 seconds and then finished first in the 200 with a time of 26.81 seconds. Rookie Melanie Forte (Milford, N.H.) crossed the line just after Reid, finishing the 200 in second place with a time of 27.31 seconds. Sophomore Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) finished first in the 800 with a time of 3:01.34 and sophomore Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) took first in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.47 seconds.
The men's 4x800 relay team took first with a time of 8:18.95, while senior Timothy Richard (Attleboro, Mass.) finished second in the one mile with a time of 4:24.23. Junior Connor LaClair (Hyde Park, Vt.) placed second in the 400 with a time of 54.64 seconds and freshman Kevin Turner (Charlton, Mass.) took first in the 1,000 with a time of 2:03.08.
In the field events, Holy Cross swept the shot put with sophomore Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) taking first with a distance of 11.81 meters. Senior Rachel Amaral (Raynham, Mass.) took second with a distance of 11.27 meters and freshman Nicole Hanlon (Lynn, Mass.) placed third with a distance of 10.65 meters.
Holy Cross continues indoor action next weekend at the Boston Indoor Games on Jan. 29-30 in Boston, Mass.
