Women’s Track & Field Selected Fourth In Patriot League Preseason Poll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's track and field team was selected to finish fourth in the 2009-10 indoor track and field Patriot League preseason poll as voted on by head coaches and sports information directors from around the league. Bucknell, who finished second at the Patriot League Championship last season behind Navy, received 11 first place votes and 93 points. The Midshipmen received five first place votes and finished second overall in the preseason voting with 89 points. Army received 76 points and was voted to finish in third place, while Holy Cross took fourth with 56 points. Colgate took sixth place with 40 points and Lafayette (35 points) and American (14) fill in the seventh and eighth spots, respectively.

The Crusaders, who finished fourth at last year's indoor championship, return 34 letter winners from last year's squad and welcome 19 newcomers to the team. The team continues indoor action at New Hampshire on Jan. 23 and will compete in the 2009-10 Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 19-21, at Army's Gillis Field House in West Point, N.Y.
