Crusaders Set To Compete At New Hampshire

  • The Holy Cross women's track and field team continues competition at New Hampshire on Saturday, Jan. 23. The Crusaders will compete against UNH and Quinnipiac at the Paul Sweet Oval in Durham, N.H.
  • Last season at New Hampshire, the Crusaders finished in second place with 73 points, while New Hampshire took first with 92 and Quinnipiac took third with nine. Senior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) led the Crusaders with a first place finish in the 500 with a time of 1:20.80. Senior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.) took first in the 800 with a time of 2:22.55, while sophomore Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.) finished first in the 1,000 with a time of 3:05.03. In the field events, sophomore Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.) led the Crusaders with a first place finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.15 meters.
  • At last week's Sorlien Invitational, senior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) just missed her school record on way to a second place finish in the 55 meter dash. Reid finished the race with a time of 7.32 seconds, just .05 seconds off her school record. Reid also took fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.57 seconds. Pruszko ran a season-best and team-best time of 1:18.87 in the 500, while Hartnett finished with a season-best and team-best time of 2:59.73 in the 1,000. Culkeen recorded a distance of 14.60 meters in the weight throw, just one-tenth of a meter off her personal-best.
  • Holy Cross was selected to finish fourth in the 2009-10 indoor track and field Patriot League preseason poll. Bucknell received 11 first place votes and 93 points. Navy received five first place votes and finished second overall in the preseason voting with 89 points. Army received 76 points and was voted to finish in third place, while Holy Cross took fourth with 56 points. Colgate took sixth place with 40 points and Lafayette (35 points) and American (14) fill in the seventh and eighth spots, respectively. At last year's indoor championships, Holy Cross finished in fourth place and then finished in fifth place at the outdoor championships.
