Holy Cross Ready To Race At Yale Invite

  • The Holy Cross women's track and field team returns to team competition on Saturday, Jan. 9 at the Yale Invitational in New Haven, Conn.
  • Last year at Yale, sophomore Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.) led the Crusaders with a fifth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.51 seconds. Sophomore Paige Sutherland (Groveland, Mass.) took seventh in the one mile run with a time of 5:22.19, while senior Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.) finished eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.45.  
  • Over the holidays, individual members of the track and field team competed at the Boston University miniseries. Over three consecutive weekends, BU hosted races in the 200, one mile, 400, 800 and 3,000 meter run. Pruszko led the Crusaders with multiple performances in the 200 and 400. She was named the AT&T Crusader of the Week on Dec. 21 as she had the second-fastest time of all female runners in the 400, finishing in 59.58 seconds. She also placed third among women in the 200 in a time of 26.59 seconds.
  • Rookies Melanie Forte (Milford, N.H.), Rachel Sylvia (Westerly, R.I.), Kathleen Brekka (Hubbardston, Mass.), Brittany Gorski (Tewksbury, Mass.) and Kelsey Gardner (Malverne, N.Y.) all competed at the miniseries. Forte ran a time of 27.06 seconds in the 200, Sylvia finished with a time of 28.28 seconds in the 200 and 1:02.10 in the 400, Brekka finished the 400 with a time of 1:02.25, Gorski ran the 400 in 1:02.67 and Gardner ran the 400 in 1:04.13.
