Women's Track & Field Earns 45 On Honor Roll

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's track and field team had 45 student-athletes named to the 2009 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the league office, including senior Kelly Shaw (South Windsor, Conn.) and Margaret Molloy (West Hartford, Conn.) who each earned a perfect 4.0 grade-point average in the spring semester. They were two of 10 student-athletes on the women's track and field Academic Honor Roll to have a 4.0 average. Seniors Elizabeth Alizzi (Syosset, N.Y.), Lesley Bautista (St. John's, Newfoundland), Katie Clay (Beverly, Mass.), Lauren Courtney (Ashland, Mass.), Sophia Grammenos (Gardner, Mass.), Dannielle Meder (Chicopee, Mass.), Casey Monahan (Holyoke, Mass.), Shaw, Colleen Spilka (Hamden, Conn.) and Lauren Tallon (Lake Forest, Ill.) made the Academic Honor Roll for the fourth time. Holy Cross' 45 selections were the second most in the league.

The other members of the team to be named to the honor roll were seniors Kristin Anzuoni (Lynnfield, Mass.), Laura Flannery (Franklin, Mass.), Jenna Hinchey (Orange, Conn.), Cara Joyce (Cumberland, R.I.), Courtney Mazzio (West Chester, Pa.), Sarah Murphy (Auburn, Mass.), Alexandra Swiatocha (Mahopac, N.Y.) and Kari Viola (Bohemia, N.Y.); juniors Chantal Couture (Taunton, Mass.), Meghan Dunne (Mendham, N.J.), Claire Luke (Delmar, N.Y.), Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.), Caitlin Murphy (Hudson, Mass.), Olivia Pruszko (Monroe, Conn.), Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.); sophomores Cassandra Anderson (Saugus, Mass.), Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.), Allison Fimognari (Wilbraham, Mass.), Jacqueline Imse (Simsbury, Conn.), Megan McCormick (Newburyport, Mass.), Emily Nassetta (New London, Conn.), M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.), Suzanne Wallace (Shoreham, N.Y.) and Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.); and freshmen Christen Caragian (Hudson, Mass.), Jillian Crowley (Boxborough, Mass.), Alexandria Culkeen (Beverly, Mass.), Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.), Elizabeth Humphries (Siler City, N.C.), Erin Linnehan (Litchfield, N.H.), Sarah Mellea (North Arlington, N.J.), Alison Nadeau (Norfolk, Mass.), Rachel Salemme (Chicago, Ill.) and Megan Skwirz (Smithfield, R.I.).

 A total of 166 student-athletes from women's track and field teams around the league were named to the honor roll. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League sponsored winter or spring championship sports.
