Women's Track & Field Places 48th At ECAC Championship
PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Lesley Bautista (St. John's Newfoundland) tied her own school record in the pole vault, as the Holy Cross women's outdoor track and field team finished in 48th place at the 2009 ECAC Championship, held at the William Weaver Track & Field Stadium. Bautista finished in fifth place in the pole vault by clearing a height of 3.75 meters, as the Crusaders totaled three points as a team. Connecticut won the team title with 88 points.
Junior Tiffany Reid (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) had a strong weekend for the Crusaders, placing 15th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 24.59 seconds, and 17th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.11 seconds. Reid also teamed with Bautista, sophomore M. Siobhan Straub (Mattituck, N.Y.) and sophomore Caitlin White (Miller Place, N.Y.) to place 20th in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing with a time of 47.91 seconds.
The team of sophomore Courtney Burgess (Dracut, Mass.), freshman Katelyn Hartnett (Danvers, Mass.), junior Maureen Meagher (Allentown, Pa.) and freshman Alison Nadeau (Norfolk, Mass.) finished 13th in the 4x800-meter relay, recording a time of 9:03.87. In addition, junior Sarah Croteau (Westminster, Mass.) finished in 15th place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 38:19.87.
The Crusaders will return to action with qualifying individuals taking part in the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., on May 29-30.
