WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Carrie Simmons (Raynham, Mass.) has been named the Holiday Inn Express Crusader of the Week, for competition from October 3-9. Simmons won all four of her matches last week, as the Holy Cross women's tennis team split a pair of matches.
In a 5-2 loss to Bryant last on Oct. 4, Simmons helped account for both of the Crusaders points. Simmons also won both of her matches in the 7-0 victory over Springfield on Oct. 5. She recorded a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Melissa Weinstein at No. 1 singles, while teaming with Trimmer for an 8-3 win against Weinstein and Meghan Kelly at No. 1 doubles.
So far this season, Simmons has posted a record of 5-1, while playing both No. 1 and No. 2 singles. She has also combined with Trimmer for a 10-3 record as the Crusaders' No. 1 doubles team.
Holy Cross (3-3 overall) returns to action this Thursday, Oct. 13, when it plays host to Providence in a 3:30 p.m. match.
