Worcester, Mass.- The Holy Cross women's tennis team suffered their first loss of the fall, losing to Providence 5-2 Thursday in Worcester, Mass. Freshman Kristen Meahl (Falmouth, Maine) was a part of two wins on the day. Meahl and doubles partner sophomore Paige Brown (Huntington, N.Y.) defeated Dara Hawkins-Hodgson and Jen Cusack by a score of 8-2. Meahl would then go on to win her singles match, beating Allison Cohen, 6-4, 6-1.
Freshman Ivette Konopka (Shelton, Conn.) would also see victory in her singles match, defeating Meg Gilroy. Konopka rebounded from a first set loss (3-6) to take the last two sets from Gilroy, 6-4, 10-3.
Holy Cross women's tennis drops to 2-1 overall, while Providence improves to 2-1. The Crusaders return to the court Wednesday, October 11 hosting Rhode Island in Worcester at 3:30.
